Our mission
Created in 2022, Tendev is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rally all indoor and outdoor tennis clubs in Canada to raise awareness among players of the importance of recycling used balls.
ABOUT
TENDEV is a non-profit organization in Quebec managed by the Langlois family which, with the help only of volunteers and tennis enthusiasts, has made it its mission to make the practice of tennis less polluting.
The program currently has a large number of prestigious partners, including Tennis Canada, for whom we collect balls as part of activities in national training centers (Montreal and Toronto) as well as during professional ATP and the WTA held in Granby, Montreal and Toronto.
We can also count on the support of several clubs, provincial tennis federations across Canada and municipalities that help us recover balls.
President's word
Tennis is one of the most polluting sports on the planet. Tennis balls are essentially made of rubber (C5H8), wool (C16H14R7O8) and nylon (C12H22N2O2). Rubber and nylon are not biodegradable and therefore every time a tennis ball is thrown away it has a strongly negative impact on the environment
Since entering into an agreement with Recycle Bales Canada in 2020, more than 50,000 bales have been recovered in Canada.
We need the collaboration of all indoor and outdoor tennis clubs that are important players in the world of tennis in order to achieve our goal of collecting 150,000 additional balls by the end of 2022!
Thank you in advance for your contribution and we look forward to working with you for the 2022-2023 season!
